What is the OpenPrecincts dataset?
The OpenPrecincts dataset, provided by OpenLabs and ingested by CTA, is free and available to all PAD users.
PAD users can use this data to measure the effectiveness of their digital programs. The dataset includes a set of ZIP clusters and ZIP clusters-to-precincts matches.
With this dataset, PAD users can randomize ZIP clusters in states and send premium digital advertising to the treatment clusters - examining turnout and persuasive impact post-election.
For more information about the OpenPrecincts dataset, you can check out the OpenLabs announcement document on the project here.
How can I find OpenPrecincts data in PAD?
PAD users can find the OpenPrecincts data by adding it to their project by subscribing to the OpenPrecincts2022 dataset through the Google Analytics Hub. For more information on how to do this, check out the Analytics Hub article here.
PAD Table Description
OpenPrecincts publishes ZIP clusters with associated precincts for ease of measuring the effect of digital programs on turnout and vote choice. OpenPrecincts are available for AZ, CO, FL, GA, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OH, PA, TX, and WI. For each state, there is a ZIP and Precincts table. The Zip table includes which cluster the zip is in and that zip code's population. The Precincts table includes the cluster that the precinct belongs to and what percent of that precinct is located within the cluster.
